Strengths: Quick and efficient scoring is the main staple of Nichols' game. He is a very good spot-up shooter, and his range extends to NBA distance. His size and length allow him to shoot over most perimeter defenders. Nichols doesn't do a tremendous amount of cutting without the basketball, but has a knack for finding weak spots in the defense where he can spot up and shoot. Nichols has shown solid awareness on defense in the past, and is active within a zone setup. Weaknesses: Despite being such an efficient scorer, Nichols doesn't bring much else to the table offensively. He doesn't drive to the basket much, preferring to shoot from the outside. His athleticism could be used more often for aspects of offense not pertaining to shooting. Defensively, Nichols has not been tested much in one-on-one situations due to Syracuse's zone, so his lateral quickness is a question mark. Outlook: Nichols will be an early to mid-second round selection. His one-dimensional instant offense game will makes him ideal as a seventh or eighth man off the bench for brief stints, but he needs to improve other aspects of his game if he wants to see serious time.
