Johnson's Offer was Days in the Waiting
First year position coach, Jerry Montgomery and the Sooners are searching for the highest mountain top to let defensive line prospects from coast to coast know of their need along the defensive front line.
Problem is, so far they haven't been able to nail down the few targets they are pursuing outside of summer commitment Brandon Glenn. Oklahoma is still working on the few defensive tackle offers they have out to uncommitted prospects and recently extended another offer to 6-foot-2 and 280-pound Rowlett, Texas prospect, Cedric Johnson.
The offer puts Johnson's offer list at eight with Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Illinois, SMU, Tulsa and Washington State also on that list.
The way the offer came about was a bit of a surprise for Johnson who says he had not heard from the Sooners since around the time of the Carrollton Satellite Camp in early June that he was unable to attend due to a hamstring injury. But, if he had checked his email a few days earlier, the offer would have possibly been extended a few days earlier then this past Sunday.
"Coach (Josh) Heupel he actually emailed me and coach (Jerry)Montgomery but I had ended up getting the email actually two days later from when they sent it. So, I emailed coach Montgomery back and asked him if he wanted me to call him the next day and he replied that he wanted me to."
