Ganz not your average Joe
Joe Foreman
HuskerOnline.com Starting just his second game behind center on Saturday, Joe Ganz turned in the best passing performance ever by a Nebraska quarterback.
Ganz completed 30-of-40 passes for a school record 510 yards as the Cornhuskers steamrolled Kansas State, 73-31, before another sellout crowd at Memorial Stadium. The junior from Palos Heights, Ill., also became the first Husker in history to throw seven touchdown passes in a game.
"Phenomenal. Awesome. There's probably not enough superlatives for his performance today," Nebraska offensive coordinator Shawn Watson said of his quarterback. "It was unbelievable. It's the best performance I've ever seen a quarterback have in my coaching career."
Watson praised Ganz for his understanding and management of the Huskers' West Coast Offense and his competitive nature.
"I never would put anything past Joe because Joe's a great competitor," Watson said. "He really knows our offense and he understands how to manage it."
