Tangara looks to crack rotation in 2007-08
Luck definitely hasn't been on Mohamed Tangara's side since he arrived at Arizona in the fall of 2004.
The 6-foot-9, 241-pound junior was rated as Rivals.com's 64th ranked prospect of the 2004 class, mostly due to his big time athletic ability and energetic style of play despite his inexperience playing the sport.
Unfortunately for Tangara, a back injury that he sustained early into his freshman year - which forced him to redshirt the season - significantly impaired his athletic ability and he hasn't been able to get much of it back.
Every so often the coaches talk about how Tangara is regaining his athleticism - "with the weights workout he's doing with (trainers) Neil Rampe and Justin Kokoskie, he's loosening up his back and becoming more athletic," assistant Josh Pastner said last week - but the power forward/center has yet to be given much of a chance to prove them right.
