At times it's hard to put a finger on Auburn's success this season.

The 8-1 record and No. 6 national ranking is very impressive but anyone who's watched more than a couple of games has seen the inconsistencies on both sides of the ball.

A quick glance at the SEC statistics shows the Tigers as a good, not great team. Auburn is No. 4 in scoring and No. 6 in total offense. On defense, AU is No. 3 in scoring and No. 5 in total.
